“Ancient Dance” Audio Sample
“Ancient Dance for Flute and Guitar” is a lyrical piece; and is from a collection of five works for flute and guitar titled “Happenstance”. There is also an arrangement for Flute and Piano; and as well as the flute part, versions have been written for: Bb Clarinet, Oboe, Cor Anglais, Bassoon and Soprano Saxophone. This work is suitable for players of intermediate and above level.
The piece is structured in an ABA form and utilises counterpoint in a baroque style. The piece is is written in the mode of A Dorian whereby the Guitar and Flute weave a tapestry of counterpoint.
