These three pieces are arrangements of the original "5 Guitar Quartets" which were written for four soloists. This arrangement is for performance by a Guitar Orchestra consisting of 4 sections of standard guitars, together with a single Classical Bass Guitar sounding two octaves lower than written. Guitar Quartet No.1 provides an alternative simplified Bass Guitar part. Where a Classical Bass Guitar isn’t available, there is the addition of an Electric Bass Part.
No.1 has some intricate rhythms overlaid with counterpoint. No.2 is canonic. No.3 is an exuberant interaction between the sections. All pieces are aesthetic and would appeal to a wide audience.
Although each piece is different from the rest and can be performed as a single item, if played in order, the 3 pieces meld together as a performance piece.
