Perth guitarist Ross McMahon plays and composes with an eclectic mix of musical styles. Combining classical with contemporary jazz and pop,Ross’ music is eminently listenable. From solo guitar and classical ensembles to Jazz bands culminating in the success of winning the 1995 WAMI song of the year contest, Ross’s compositions are enjoyed by all who hear them.
"Retrospective" embodies all of the stylistic nuances mentioned above. From the bittersweet “Tess” to the Blues inspired “Sleazy Joe” and then to the the joyous inspiration of “Bream Samba”, this album of solo guitar pieces is great for all occasions.
Ross made the recordings over many years and at different sites. A variety of guitars were used during the performances.
